Notes
If there was ever an album with an apt title, this is it. The three rambling, improvisational jams on No Commercial Potential evolve from repetitive percussion pieces and in some cases devolve back into them. While there are some genuinely exciting moments in each of these tracks, a bit of editing would have improved all of them. Those who really enjoy sprawling progressive rock jams will find this album to be their holy grail -- almost an hour of full-band spontaneous interaction with guitar solos galore and dense drumming, entirely unspoiled by vocals. If that sounds great to you, you need not only this album, but everything Djam Karet ever recorded. If it sounds like something only a musical obsessive or serious jam band fan would want, you are in touch with the musical tastes of the broader society, but might miss the great moments that do appear here.
