Nils Petter Molvaer
=======================
Jazz Cafe, London
July 6th, 1998
==================
Source: BBC Jazz on 3 FM > Aiwa 640 cassette master > Aiwa 880 replay > Yamaha 1300 audio HDR > CDRW
Transfer: EAC > Nero > TLH (flac + SBE check)
Editing: Nero 8
Corrected the usual 0.05msec FM phase shift
Noise print NR at very low setting so FM noise reduced a little and sound quality actually improved
Minor volume / balance changes
Retracked to avoid SBEs and better reflect track list
Quality: A++ with very little background FM hiss
=====================================================
Broadcast on BBC Jazz on 3 a couple of weeks after recording, this is Nils performing numbers from his
Khmer and Solid Ether CDs with a group that turn in arguably as powerful and dynamic a performance ever
from Nils, sounding more Laswell-like Alternative Rock / Dub (which I prefer) than his later more Jazz /
ambient samples style.
This is a complete continuous recording from the Jazz Cafe, unlike that identified at molvaer.de which
is incomplete, has tracks from several sources that appear not to be the full duration and are a
different (audience?) mix.
I was going to just remaster my original post that finally dropped off after 2.5 years, but found my
original cassette master that started with an interview with Molvaer and had more applause (about
5.30min more) compared to my rather clumsy editing from years ago. I did a fresh transfer from my master
cassette on my better sounding Aiwa 880 cassette deck and did the editing above.
All of this has resulted in what I still believe is Nils best ever performance and even better sound
quality which should make this an essential to listeners new or Molvaer enthusiasts, so...
...Enjoy this fantastic performance !!
