(opener for Orange Then Blue)
original broadcast date: May 27, 1994 on 91.3 WCUW Worcester Glasnost Radio show.
(almost all of it. the transmitter and tape deck were both misbehaving badly that night which caused the show
to end before the broadcast was finished. We rebroadcasted the whole set with much fewer problems on September 9, 1994 so that would be the actual complete broadcast premiere. No warbles that time, but we were still in mono w/static.)

It's a 3 step torrent Glasnost Radio Production. (not just practice this time). And a masters of well, it's not jazz, it's not classical, blues, gospel or improvisation. it's not really any kind of music. It's just good music. The sort of thing heard alot on the Glasnost Radio show.

comments:
This is the third and last installment (date-sequentially) I have to offer in my Birdsongs trilogy, and I'd have to say, the best recording, which is why it's my first offering to dime (or anywhere) in the trilogy. (I seem to like to do torrents in threes. Too many versions of Mahavishnu Orch. playing Trilogy, perhaps, and that never gets old with me...) This was taken direct from the board (the 1st one is I think a sbd/aud mix and my 1st BOTM master was an aud. Both are coming up eventually). It is the full show. The tape was flipped between songs. No music or talk was missed. They were playing several songs to be released soon but not yet as of this show as well as some familiar hits (?) like Why not Circulate?, a Band of Debras, Coco Badakian and Pleasure Island. Orange then Blue did not want to be recorded. Too bad, they're pretty good too but BOTM was the reason I went to this show and it was a good time. I think the upstairs room sounds better than the downstairs one (it's also alot smaller size), but the soundboard is a decent one so you don't really hear the major crappiness of the downstairs room acoustics with its cement walls... It is one of the worst sounding rooms I've ever heard anywhere... too bad because the Middle East is a cool club with many good bands playing, along with the Paradise it is the Boston/Cambridge area's happening club for the more popular club bands. This was (like the '93 WAG show) a Glasnost Radio "world premiere exclusive" and due to radio transmitter nightmares, and a warbling tape deck, was never heard the way it was meant to be heard. If you heard the broadcast, you did not hear what you should have heard. You heard a fiasco (also something heard rather often on Glasnost Radio broadcasts). So now you can hear what was supposed to be this broadcast. The master does not have static, or warbles, or dropouts. The broadcast had all that and more, birdsongs that aren't part of Birdsongs' songs. This is a fine show, the crowd is almost inaudible, but the talk is clear and the music is very clear. Good mix to my ears. Sounds like everything that's there can be heard. The earliest BOTM recording I've ever heard is from 1984, but I think they go back even further than that. Alot of people have not heard of these guys. You should, and I offer you 3 opportunities full of their original style of music. They all sound good, this sounds the best. I think they're still around, so if you hear of them playing go check them out. They're an interesting and creative live band.

do not sell this recording.
