From the Steve Wynn Tour Diary:

And so my one-day US tour without the Continental Drifters has come and gone and we leave Minneapolis for Columbia, Missouri where the two vans and two factions of the two bands will join again to resume the travelling circus. I most certainly miss Peter and Vicki and Susan and Miranda and Russ and Jennifer (am I leaving anyone out?) but it was fun to be able to stretch out and play a long long long set last night. Robert, Mark, Linda and myself played for about two hours and 10 minutes, pretty much until closing time at the 400 Bar (a major old haunt for Linda from her Minneapolis days).

The version of 'Coltrane' was particularly exciting, with frenzied freakouts and contemplative noodlings coexisting in mind-blowing harmony. I wish all of you could have been there but something tells me that tapes will surface. I would guess the taped version combined with a glass of red wine or the drug of your choice or at least a good lava lamp will simulate the experience of being there.

And now we enjoy the final moments of the first day off in 14 days. We're driving down highway 35 in a light snowstorm surrounded by the three free pizzas that came with our hotel stay last night. The aroma is a nice companion on this beautiful evening.
