This info is from the station's website, and it's in deutsch: Über 20
Jahre lang spielten die Pretenders eine zentrale Rolle in der britischen
Rockszene, was die Band vor allem dem Durchhaltewillen ihrer Sängerin und
Songschreiberin Chrissie Hynde verdankt, trotz vieler Personalwechsel in
der Band und persönlicher Probleme. Die in Ohio geborene Chrissie Hynde
wurde dafür in England auch belohnt: Ende der 90er gewann sie die Wahl zur
Greatest Woman in Rock - mit mehr als doppelt so vielen Stimmen wie Madonna.
Nach einer sechsjährigen Pause kehrte die unverwüstliche Chrissie mit den
neuformierten Pretenders 2008 mit dem starken Comeback-Album "Breakup The
Concrete" zurück. 2009 ging es auf eine mehrmonatige Tournee durch Europa
und die USA. Das NDR 2 Radiokonzert hat am 23. Juni 2009 das Konzert in
der Hamburger Laeiszhalle mitgeschnitten.
