Built around the core of husband-and-wife team Dale and Terry Bozzio -- the latter being a former member of Frank Zappa's band -- Missing Persons debuted in 1982 with this attempt to package the avant-garde for your average mall customer. The hybrid wasn't nearly as crummy as that description sounds, and on tracks like "Destination Unknown" (on the Capitol version, the label that picked it up after it was originally released independently by producer Ken Scott) there's a kernel of real musical ambition and zest. -- Alex Ogg (allmusic.com)
