Fire is the first single from U2's 1981 album October. It was released in Ireland and the U.K. in two different 7" versions, a single LP and a double LP. The single LP only contains the studio tracks "Fire" and "J.Swallow." This, the double-LP, is the rarest and has the most tracks. It includes live versions of "11 O'Clock Tick Tock," "The Ocean," and "Cry/The Electric Co." from the band's March 1981 performance at the Paradise Theater in Boston, and it's the only place to find "Cry/The Electric Co." live from Boston, making it a rare and important collectible. Several songs from the Paradise concert have been released as U2 singles: the aforementioned four from Fire, "Out of Control" from 1980's I Will Follow, "I Will Follow" from 1981's Gloria. -- JT Griffith (allmusic.com)
