I maintain an archive website of Maynard Ferguson's tour dates, www.MFTourdates.net. Recently someone contacted me with info about an unreleased live album and eventually we worked out a trade.

In addition to providing the personnel, he said, "It was to be put on an LP record in the early 1980s, but it never happened." When I asked if he had any additional information, he replied, "It was to be put on a minor record label, the person who told me died many years ago, so I can't help you." In recent years, I have managed to photograph all of MF's surviving gig calendars (now at the Sherman Jazz Museum near Dallas) as well as manager Ernie Garside's calendars, but nothing from early 1973 has survived othen than a newsletter. If anyone has any info about MF's schedule during the period January through August 1973, please contact me. I was able to confirm the date from a newspaper article, but I have not found any reference to this gig being professionally recorded; though as you'll hear, it was an exceptional performance. Some of the tunes are the best live versions I've heard of them. There are some rough edits during the applause between the songs, which I have not changed.
