John Zorn Masada (TomP Remaster)
================
Jazzclub KITO
Bremen, Germany
7th November 1994
Source: Dime post by blackforest, thanks for this & encouragement to remaster !!
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=351948
FM (Radio Bremen II) > DAT Recorder > R09 > HD > flac
Editing (Nero 8 unless indicated):
Inverted phase (Audition)
Corrected FM phase offset by moving left channel -0.05msec
Corrected balance offset, reducing right channel by 10%
Increased volume level by +1dB
Fixed lots of volume and balance variations
Fixed the applause cut between tracks 06-07, 12-13 and at the end
Fixed short dropout in applause on many tracks
Fixed quite a few short FM clicks / DAT glitches (some remain as I couldn't locate them to fix)
Retracked so track starts with music, not during applause
CONTRAST CLAUSE:
A different capture, recorded on cassette rather than DAT (plus a tape flip during 'Janohah'
and higher FM / tape noise) was used just for the FM intro here and can be found at...
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=351664 *
Quality: Now a real A++ compared to the rather optimistic ratings of both source posts
============================================================================
Blackforest posted his claimed upgrade to the alternate cassette source, but it did not sound as good until I realised that the channel phase was inverted and when fixed, confirmed it was really an upgrade, so with his agreement, I did my usual extra editing and you now have a really fine complete concert, with much better stereo image, separation of instruments and real attack to the drums, whilst the highlight for me is being able to hear the woody thrum to Greg Cohen's great deep bass playing.
Dime post by TomP, April 2011...Enjoy !!
