-----------------------------------------------------
Quentin Reynolds gets himself attached to the Dieppe raid (August 19, 1942) and tells us the story (published in February of 1943). As usual with these correspondents' tales much booze is involved and as usual with Reynolds, many Hollywood names are dropped. The events of the book span only a few days, but Reynolds takes us on diversions ranging from a long excerpt of one of his Colliers pieces telling us why it's too early to open a second front to the miracle of plastic surgery. |
